📚 Editorial Appointments Map Viewer

📖 How to Use

  1. Select Geocoding Method:
    • ✅ Online Geocoding (recommended) — Slower (a few minutes for large lists), but accurate for any institution worldwide
    • Built-in Database — Instant and works offline, but only covers the ~200 most common research institutions. Editors from smaller or regional universities will be pinned to their country centre instead of their actual city.
  2. Download the Editorial Database CSV file and upload it using the file selector below
  3. Wait for geocoding — Online method processes one editor per second (e.g. ~3 min for 200 editors). Built-in is instant but less complete.
  4. Filter by Location: Start typing a city or place name in the search box — a dropdown will suggest matches. Pick one, set your radius, then click Search & Filter.
  5. Use Additional Filters: Filter by Journal, Role, Country, or Status to narrow down your results
  6. Find Editors & EAB to Visit! Click on map markers to see full editor details including contact information

💡 Pro Tip: Use Online Geocoding for the most accurate results — Built-in mode silently places unrecognised institutions at the centre of their country, which will skew your radius searches. If your CSV includes a City column, accuracy improves further regardless of method.

Required columns: Editor, Journal, Role, Country, Affiliation — Optional (improves accuracy): City, Email, Website
